Deborah Maue

Over the past 25+ years, Deborah has been helping organizations drive growth through strategic consumer branding, product development, and organizational development. She has led highly successful consumer marketing initiatives in highly complex organizations in consumer packaged goods, higher education, and agency settings.

Most recently, at Columbia College Chicago, Deb built a centralized marketing team of over 30 marketing communications, design, web development, and public relations professionals. In this role, she developed and implemented the college’s first brand strategy, creating a brand architecture, visual, and messaging strategy that highlighted Columbia’s unique position as an arts and media college for students who see the world through a creative lens.

After getting an MBA at Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Deb started her career at Helene Curtis (now part of Unilever), leading and developing innovative products for large and successful brands, including Axe, Dove, Degree, and Suave.

Since transitioning to the higher education sector, she has developed and implemented unique and compelling brand stories for large public and private universities, healthcare universities, law schools, and independent K-12 schools. Dr. William "Brit" Kirwan

William E. “Brit” Kirwan, Ph.D., is chancellor emeritus of the University System of Maryland (USM).  He is a nationally recognized authority on critical issues facing higher education. He served as chancellor of the University System of Maryland (2002-2015), president of the Ohio State University (1998-2002) and president of the University of Maryland, College Park (1988-1998). Prior to his presidency, he was a member of the University of Maryland mathematics faculty for 24 years.

Dr. Kirwan is past chair of, among other boards, the American Council for Higher Education, the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities, the American Association of Colleges & Universities, the Business Higher Education Forum and the National Research Council Board on Higher Education and Workforce. He also served as the co-chair and chair of Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics from 2004 to 2016.

Among Dr. Kirwan’s many honors is the 2010 TIAA-CREF Theodore M. Hesburgh Award for Leadership Excellence. Considered one of the nation’s top higher education honors, this award recognizes outstanding leadership in higher education and contributions to the greater good.  I He is the recipient of honorary doctoral degrees from the University of Kentucky, the Ohio State University and the Johns Hopkins University.

Mr. Martin Leifeld has a long and distinguished career in fundraising with Christian and secular organizations – over 24 years, and he and his teams have raised over $500 million dollars for multiple causes, but primarily in the higher ed arenas.

Most recently, Martin served as vice chancellor for university advancement at the University of Missouri–St. Louis from August 2008 until July 2018, where he averaged $26.4 million per year in an environment that had fewer resources year over year. 

Prior to joining UMSL, he was associate vice president for university development at Saint Louis University, where he led a major reorganization that resulted in a 500% increase in donor/prospect engagement and $158 million raised in 3 years, compared with $89 million the prior three years.  He’s also worked with the Catholic Diocese of Belleville, where he was responsible for raising over $80 million, and Franciscan University.

Prof. Dr. Olgun Cicek is an expert in international  Quality Assurance Systems and Accreditation processes in global higher education. He has worked in these areas for over 25 years, in areas that include Europe, Mediterranean, Middle East, Far East and in the USA. He serves for Quality Assurance Agencies for their restructuring, development, as well as internationalization processes and also for Higher Education Institutions in their quality enhancement, accreditation, ranking policies and practices globally.

He serves as an Executive Board Member and Advisory Board Member for CEENQA, IQA, YÖDAK. He is an international reviewer and evaluator on internal and external quality assurance and accreditation processes for program and institutional level for many quality assurance agencies (i.e., QAA, NVAO, AQAS etc.) within Europe and worldwide. He is also serving as an advisory board member, accreditation committee member and international strategic council member (QM, BAC, NAQA etc.) for many agencies while participating in Quality Assurance related projects within the EU as well as World Bank.

Mark Haas, CMC, FIMC

Mr. Mark Haas helps executives transform organizations to build capacity and perform better. With an emphasis on progressive social causes and science, technology and R&D-focused organizations, he leads groups through change in settings ranging from World War IV military strategy and response, nuclear terrorism, and nonprofit member services to board performance.

Dr. David Turbow is an expert in institutional research and building assessment programs.  A graduate of WSCUC’s Assessment Leadership Academy, he has built best practice assessment programs (programmatic review and assessment, rubrics, co-curricular effectiveness, and ePortfolio) to assist institutions in achieving regional accreditation.

He has worked with multiple universities throughout his 25-year career, and has co-authored multiple research articles and given conference presentations on assessment. He holds a PhD in Environmental Health Science and Policy from the University of California, Irvine; a MS in Environmental Science from California State Fullerton, and a BS in Biological Sciences from the University of California Santa Barbara.

Dr. Albert Schram has deep experience in international higher education. A Dutch-Italian economic historian, he has worked in executive positions at multiple institutions, including Academic Director at Zuyd University (Netherlands), Knowledge Transfer and Grants Director at Maastricht University (Netherlands), and President of Papua New Guinea’s University of Technology. He developed an intimate knowledge of all European Commission grant programs, and increased revenue substantially.

Dr. Schram has built and led several high-performance executive teams over the course of his career and was named a Fellow of the Center for Studies in Higher Education of the University of California Berkeley. He currently lives in Italy.
