The findings challenge the narratives dominating higher education discourse on both sides. Employers still value degrees, three-quarters say they will be as or more important in five years. But only about half believe colleges are graduating students with the skills their organizations need, and 69 percent report that recent hires require moderate or significant additional training. That gap between degree value and preparation quality is where this conversation focuses.
